    Type Locality and Naming
The naming section is located near Changxindian, Beijing. Named by Xie Jiarong in 1933, when the formation was called the Changxindian conglomerate bed.
Lithology and Thickness
Dominantly consists of conglomerate with purplish red mudstone and thin yellow sandstone lenses. The total thickness is ~100 m.

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation rests unconformably on conglomerate and purplish red shale of the Cretaceous Xiazhuang Fm.
Upper contact
The formation is covered by the Quaternary.

The fresh-water gastropods contained in the formation include Cyclotus cf. exaratus, Planorbina sp. etc. Besides turtles, the vertebrates include the mammals ? Tupaiodon sp., ? Eudinoceras sp., Hypsimylus beijingensis, Miacis sp. and Imequinisoria sp..
